The Challenge
The challenge behind this development process was what to do with a vacant Sears department store and the surrounding 80 acres of land along the Wabash River.
The Process
DCI examined several potenital reuses for both the Sears site and the entire Levee Area, placing emphasis on the development directions that would achieve the highest and best use.
The Outcomes
DCI recommended new housing development along the river supported by new retail, entertainment, civic and office spaces. We also provided the City with an implementation strategy outlining the activities necessary to attract new invesment to the site.
The development at Wabash Landing has become an extention of Downtown Lafayette, resulting in more than $108 million dollars of public and private investments.
